goducks.com Student Athlete of the Week- Jamesha Youngblood

Jamesha Youngblood has been named the goducks.com Student Athlete of the Week for 5/17-5/24
Youngblood helped the 4x100 relay team win in a school record 43.27, which was Oregon’s first Pac-10 title in the event since 1993. She also won the triple jump with a wind-aided
43-7.75 on her third attempt. Though that mark was windy, her first
attempt of 43-5 was wind legal and will go into the books as the new
school record. Just for good measure, she jumped 43-3.25 on her second
attempt. Youngblood broke her own school record in winning the
women’s long jump at 21-9. That effort came on her third attempt as she
defended her Pac-10 title by nearly a foot over Stanford’s Arantxa
King, who went 20-09.75. Youngblood became just the second woman in Pac-10 history to win
back-to-back titles in both the triple jump and the long jump. She
joins Stanford’s Erica McLain, who accomplished that feat
in 2005-06.
She helped the Oregon women shatter the meet record with 215 points. That was 106 points better than second-place Arizona’s 109. Oregon’s point total surpassed the previous Pac-10 record of 189.5 established by UCLA in 1997.
