NCAA Super Regional Blog #3 - Thanks For the Memories

- By Monique Fuiava (5/31/10)
Home sweet home! Finally, we have made it back to good old Oregon.
After many road trips, extraneous workouts, blood and sweat, we find ourselves back in Eugene for finals. Although we did no make it to the World Series, we reached our goal we set at the beginning of the season: Make it to Super Regionals.
Fortunately for myself and 14 others on the team, we have another chance next year to make it Oklahoma City!
We would like to take this time and thank each and every one of our supporters from near and far. Whether you were born a Duck fan or just hopped on board after you saw the Green and Yellow on television, we thank you! We are grateful for all of your best wishes and good thoughts throughout the season.
As for our seniors, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful examples you have each set throughout the years you've been here.
Neena Jean (Bryant), thank you for the "silent, but deadly" leadership you have displayed in the outfield and in the batter's box.
Carlyn Re, you are such a spark plug for this team, and your energy has definitely been appreciated.
B. Dub (Blair Williamson)! You pushed all of us to our limits and further, and it paid off.
Hannah B (arril) and Shelley D (eadmond), you two are the inspiration for this team and your charisma and great examples have helped us more than you know it!
It was a pleasure playing with each and every one of you! Thank you for the life long lessons you have taught both on and off the field.
Lastly, we would like to thank our coaching staff. Coach White, Coach Allister and Coach Dodd: you were major roles in our success this year, and we don't express enough how much we appreciate all your hard work.
Thank you for pushing us to be better and challenging us to go places we have never been. Although we are not preparing ourselves for opening day of World Series right now, we have no doubt that we will work twice as hard next year to reach our final destination. We thank you for the time and patience it took to better our individual skills, and we look forward to another year of hard work and progression.
Wrapping us this last blog of our season, I have bittersweet feelings. I am happy we are home for finals because our seniors are finally able to prepare themselves for graduation and future plans.
However, on the other hand, I am sad that we were not able to get the seniors to Oklahoma City. In the future, the major goal for this team will include being one of the last eight teams playing in the World Series.
I have said it before, but words cannot express how grateful we are to our peers, community and new friends on Facebook, for the major support and love they have shown for our team.
As for our families, you all are our inspiration to continue forward and be better. We would not be the young women we are today without you, all! To all the mothers and fathers of our players (especially mine), we thank you for the unconditional love and belief you all have had for us from the first day we took the field. You are the best - end of story.
As we get ready for the new season, we set higher expectations for ourselves and for our team. We will be back in action in the fall during our opening tournament at Howe Field, and we hope to see everyone there.
In the meantime, you will see most of us around for summer school and workouts. Until next time, have a nice day, and Go Ducks!
Thankfully,
UO Softball
