Twenty-Six Ducks Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

EUGENE, Ore. ? Pacific-10 Champions Nicole Blood, Keshia Baker, Brianne Theisen, Zoe Buckman, Cyrus Hostetler and Claire Michel were among 26 Ducks honored on the 2010 Pac-10 Track & Field all-academic teams.
Blood, a senior from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., won both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter Pac-10 titles in leading Oregon to its second straight league championship. She was a second team selection with a 3.47 grade point average in journalism.
Michel, a junior from Clackamas, Ore., who became Oregon’s first women’s 3,000 meter steeplechase champion, was a first team selection with a 3.92 GPA and a double major of romance languages/international studies.
Hosteter, a senior from Newberg, Ore., was also a first team choice for his 3.62 GPA in art. Hostetler won his second straight Pac-10 javelin title in 2010.
Baker, a senior from Fairfield, won the Pac-10 400 meters title for the third straight year, while Theisen, a junior from Humboldt, Sask., defended her heptathlon title. Buckman, a senior from Canberra, Australia, won the 1,500 meters in 2010 after winning the 800 meters a year ago. All three were named Pac-10 all-academic honorable mention.
Additional first team honorees for the men included Pac-10 scorers Alex Wolff (3.78 GPA, human physiology), Scott Penny (3.84 gpa, biology) and David Klech (3.88 gpa, psychology).
For the women, Pac-10 scorer Mattie Bridgmon (3.78 gpa, human physiology) joined Michel on the first team.
The second team featured Pac-10 scorer Alexandra Kosinski (3.54 GPA, sociology) and Bronwyn Crossman (3.66 GPA, family and human services), in addition to Blood. The men had sophomore Matt Butcher (3.63 GPA, sociology) on the second team.
Among the honorable mention selections were Pac-10 scorers A.J. Acosta, Britton Nelson, Luke Puskedra, Brian Schaudt and Jordan Stray for the men and Erin Funkhouser, Jordan Roskelley and Rita Santibanez for the women.
Additional honorable mention selections included Lyndsay Pearson for the women and Bryce Burgess, Eric Hersey, Brian McGinty and Colin Witter-Tilton for the men.
