Hildahl & Omlid Advance to Oregon Amateur Match Play

CANBY, Ore. – Thanks to their top-32 finishes in the Oregon Amateur final stroke play standings Tuesday, University of Oregon senior Kate Hildahl and junior Erica Omlid both advanced to Wednesday’s match play bracket.
On the Willamette Valley Country Club course, Omlid was tied for 11th place overall (76-78-154), and Hildahl followed in a tie for 21st (83-77-160) in the 40-person field.
On Tuesday, the Springfield, Ore., native Omlid logged 13 par scores (#2-6, 9, 11-17), four bogeys (#1, 8, 10, 18) and one double-bogey (#7), and the Tualatin, Ore., product Hildahl claimed a birdie on the par-4 17th, 12 par scores (#2-7, 9, 12-16), four bogeys (#1, 10-11, 18) and one double-bogey (#8).
For comparison’ sake, Omlid entered the day in a tie for seventh place, and Hildahl stood 27th overall.
Overall Tuesday, returning event champion Amy Simanton (72-72-144) ended two strokes ahead of the field in the 36-hole competition, and was followed by former Duck Lara Tennant (second, 72-74-146).

Looking ahead, the first round of match play is set for Wednesday, while the round of 16 will be held Thursday, the quarterfinals and semifinals follow on Friday, and the 36-hole championship final is set for Saturday morning.
