Wong Named PING First-Team All-American

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -– University of Oregon sophomore Eugene Wong has been named one of 11 PING First-Team All-America honorees by the Golf Coaches Association of America following the stroke-play portion of the NCAA Championships.
The native of North Vancouver, B.C. led the team and tied for ninth overall in the 156-man field by shooting 4-under par 212, joining former Duck Craig Griswold (1972) as the only first-team All-Americans in UO history.
Wong, the co-Pac-10 Golfer of the Year, was a two-time medalist this season, leading Oregon to a No. 1 national ranking at the conclusion of the regular season.
The Ducks were one of eight teams to move on to the single-elimination match play portion of the championships after placing fifth after 54 holes. They are facing No. 4 seed Washington on Friday for the chance to advance to the final four.
