O Heroes: Food and Furniture Donation Drive on June 26
EUGENE, Ore. -- O Heroes has teamed up with Chase Village Apartments, Food for Lane County and St. Vincent DePaul’s to create a food and furniture donation drive. The goal is to reduce waste and trash left behind by students moving out for the summer, that can’t move bigger or unwanted furniture items, clothing and extra food.
On Saturday, June 26 members from O Heroes and staff from Chase Village will be assisting students as they move out. Students are encouraged to bring clothes, couches, dressers, bed frames, mattresses, tables, chairs, appliances and anything in fair and working condition to St. Vincent DePaul Trucks on-site. Anyone moving home for the summer is encouraged to come by and make a donation. Trucks and donation center will be at Chase Village on 375 Marche Chase Drive Eugene, OR 97401. (541) 485-7673.
This effort is in addition to the University of Oregon Athletic Department’s Clothing Drive. Clothing donations to St. Vincent DePaul’s have been declining recently, and UO is doing their part to help the community.
During the weeks leading up to June 26, Food for Lane County will also be collecting food from bins strategically placed around the Chase Village property. Students at Chase Village are encouraged to give anything they will not be consuming or taking with them when they move out. St. Vincent DePaul will also have storage bins for students to bring their unwanted items should they be leaving their apartments before June 26.
Food will be provided for all those helping out on June 26 by the local Marie Calendar’s.
We hope this will be a successful endeavor in assisting the Eugene community, and reducing waste, trash, and clutter as we enter summer vacation. Thank you to Chase Village, Food for Lane County, St. Vincent DePaul’s, Marie Calendar’s and of course, the O Heroes.
