Talkin' Duck: Ducks Go for Two in Connecticut

Talkin' Duck: The Ducks are in Connecticut!

Ducks win! Ducks win! They found a way....the George Horton way. Get in your opponents head by getting on base and then run your way to victory with out even hitting the ball out of the infield. Oh they can hit it out of the infield, too. Casey Serna's two run shot in the sixth was evidence of that. But tonight it was what they call "small ball" that won it for Oregon. The Ducks got Pulfer on in the ninth with none out and the game tied at two. UCONN then made some questionable decisions that didn't work out because of the Ducks all out base running. I've got to believe that Coach Hortons history of manuacturing runs with his teams bunting and base running caused UCONN to make some plays they probably wished they'd done differently. Twice they tried to get the lead runner and twice it bit them. You can call it "long ball" or "small ball. But you really should call it what it is....finding a way to win. And George Horton and his staff have taught this Duck team how to do that a lot this year!
