Well, it's Monday morning. The day after the final game of the 2010 season for Duck Baseball. The tears have dried but the pride and memories will never go away. In my 24 years of doing Duck sports, this will go down as one of the most memorable seasons I've been a part of. Partly because it was so unexpected. And partly because of the quality of the young men, the coaches, and the fans who made this such a great season.
A 40 win season! We may not have believed at the begining of the season....but the young men did.
They will leave Norwich, Connecticut this evening to come home. But they will leave the college baseball world with the understanding that Duck baseball belongs. This team wasn't just happy to here. They came here to advance and get to Omaha. And they will leave with the respect of every opponent and every opponents fans. They know what Duck baseball is about now.
So thanks for the memories, and let's get back here and do this again. They're already talking doing just that. And you know what.....they will!
