goducks.com Student Athlete of the Week- Jordan Hasay

Last Saturday in College Station, Texas, Oregon sophomore Jordan Hasay was victorious in two events to help the women win their second consecutive NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.
In the mile competition, Hasay passed her teammate with about 100 meters to go and held that position to win her first NCAA title in the event. Her time of 4:33:01 broke Leann Warren's 1982 time of 4:33:26, which was one of the most respected records in Oregon Track and Field history.
In her second event, the 3,000 meters, Hasay won a nail-biting race against Sheila Reid from Villanova. She executed a risky move with 250 meters remaining, darting in front of Reid to prevent her from passing on the outside. Hasay held on to win the event in 9:13:71, beating Reid by a little over a tenth of a second. With her efforts, Hasay became the first Oregon woman to win the indoor mile, and only the second to win the 3,000 meters (Melody Fairchild, 1996).
Watch for Hasay when the Ducks come home for the Oregon Preview in Hayward Field this Saturday at 1 p.m.
