Ducks Add Krstojevic to Newcomer Class

EUGENE - The University Oregon volleyball team boosted an already impressive 2011 newcomer class with the addition of junior college All-America middle blocker Milica Krstojevic.
The 6-3 native of Gacko, Bosnia was a Mid-Florida All-Conference pick the last two seasons for Florida State College at Jacksonville. As a sophomore, the Conference Player of the Year helped her team rank 11th nationally en route to a 30-7 overall record and 14-2 mark against in-state opponents.
In 2010, she led her squad in kills (315, 2.89 p/s), hitting (.365) and blocks (120), and ranked second in blocks per set (1.10) and third in aces (28, 0.26 p/s). As a freshman in 2009, she led the team in hitting (.434) and blocks (103, 0.95 p/s), and stood second in kills (287, 2.66 p/s) and fourth in aces (28).
Before coming to the U.S., she played club volleyball for the Gacko program from 2000-09. Her team played in the Serbian Republic first league and won titles in 2005-06 and 2008-09, and the latter honor qualified her squad for the first league of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her team also finished second in Serbia in 2007-08, and took third in the country's largest tournament in 2008-09.
Krstojevic joins a signee class that already includes the freshman trio of Elizabeth Brenner, Chloe Buckendahl and Savannah Paffen.
Among their lengthy list of honors, all three were pegged to the Under Armour All-America Watch List last fall, Brenner and Buckendahl were www.Prepvolleyball.com Senior Ace honorees, and Brenner was the Oregon Gatorade State Player of the Year the past two seasons.
The Ducks graduated only one player from last year's roster, All-Pac-10 outside hitter Heather Meyers

In its sixth season under head coach Jim Moore
, UO opened the 2010 campaign with a school record 14-match win streak en route to a season-high national ranking of 11th. It ended the year with a 19-11 overall mark, its fifth straight season with +17 wins (20-2009; 25-2008; 22-2007; 17-2006) for the first the first time since 1983-87.
Among returnees to watch this fall, setter Lauren Plum
was tabbed to the All-Pac-10 Freshman Team, while outside hitter Alaina Bergsma
was an All-Pac-10 honorable mention in her first season for the Ducks.
Outside hitter Katherine Fischer
is also a former All-Pac-10 Freshman Team choice, and her 14 double-doubles in 2010 is tops among Pac-10 returnees in 2011. In her first year as the starting libero, Haley Jacob
logged the fifth-best digs total in a season (450), and middle blocker Ariana Williams
' team season high for hitting in a match (.722) ranked fourth-best in the Pac-10.
