Ducks to Host Decathlon This Weekend
EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon has added the Oregon Decathlon to the 2011 track and field schedule. The Ducks will host the meet this Friday and Saturday at Hayward Field.
Competition will begin at 12:30 p.m. both days and admission is free. Fans are reminded to be aware of University and neighborhood parking restrictions.
Free parking is available in the Columbia Street Garage adjacent to Matthew Knight Arena. The garage can be accessed by turning on 13th Avenue near the main Agate Street entrance to campus.
"This is an important opportunity for some of our decathletes to compete," said Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna. "They have been training well and this will help them put together all 10 events for the first time this year."
Oregon decathletes Kevin Godfrey and Bruce Burbank will be joined by Duck high jumper Justin Frick, as well as Preston Smee, David Formolo and Sean Cohen from Lane Community College. Former Duck Marshall Ackley is also in the field.
