Soccer Reveals 2011 Schedule

EUGENE, Ore. --
The University of Oregon soccer team gets its 2011 competition schedule started this week with the first of five spring matches to get prepare the roster for the fall slate.
The Ducks begin the spring schedule on Saturday when they take on Concordia in Portland at 1 p.m. Oregon also travels to Washington State (April 9 at 2 p.m.), Idaho (April 10 at 11 a.m.) and Seattle (April 17 at 12:30 p.m.) over the next three weeks. UO plays its lone home match of the spring on May 1, ending its spring exhibition schedule against Portland State at Pape’ Field at 2 p.m.
“It’s great to have the spring here and get some scrimmages in,” head coach Tara Erickson said. “With a small roster, this will be a chance for the players we have to gain valuable game experience heading into the fall. It also gives us coaches a chance to evaluate how our players respond to filling the void of the seniors that have moved on.”
Four preseason tournaments dot Oregon’s non-conference schedule in the fall. The Ducks open the year at the Boise State Tournament against Wyoming (Aug. 19) and Boise State (Aug. 21). After a home match against UNLV on Aug. 28, UO hosts New Hampshire (Sept. 2) and Santa Clara (Sept. 4) in the Third Annual Nike Tournament.
Oregon moves on to the LSU Tournament against LSU (Sept. 9) and Illinois (Sept. 11) in Baton Rouge, La., and closes its non-conference slate against UC Davis (Sept. 16) and Florida International (Sept. 18) at the Oregon State Tournament in Corvallis, Ore.
The Ducks host five of their 11 Pac-12 matches and open league play against new conference foe Utah on Sept. 23. UO embarks on a five-match road trip at UCLA (Sept. 30), USC (Oct. 2), Arizona (Oct. 7), Arizona State (Oct. 9) and Colorado (Oct. 16).
That trip is followed Oregon’s last four home contest of the year against Washington (Oct. 21), Washington State (Oct. 23), California (Oct. 28) and Stanford (Oct. 30).
The Ducks’ regular season concludes with a Civil War clash at Oregon State on Nov. 4.
Oregon returns six starters from last season’s squad that posted a 7-10-3 overall record and went 3-5-1 in the Pac-10 conference.
