Update on 2011 Recruiting Class

EUGENE, Ore. -- Head coach Tara Erickson and the University of Oregon soccer program announced the 2011 recruiting class back on the first Wednesday in February. Four of those standouts -- Kelsey Foo, Bri Pugh, Shanelle Simien and Abby Steele -- have continued their successful playing careers since deciding to join with the Ducks.
Kelsey Foo, a midfielder from San Jose, Calif., led her MVLA Avalanche team to the 2011 Cal-North State Cup Championship last month (the team's third state cup title). She also led her Archbishop Mitty high school team to a rare triple crown: WCAL league championship, WCAL tournament championship and CCS Div II championship. Her MVLA team qualifies for the Region IV far west regional tournament in June.
Bri Pugh, a forward from Highlands Ranch, Colo., led Mountain Vista High School to the Colorado State 5A Championship. Pugh earned MVP honors in the championship match after scoring the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute. Denverpost.com has a complete recap and photo album for that title match.
Shanelle Simien, a forward from Lakewood, Calif., guided her club team (Real So Cal) to the 2011 Southern California State Championship.
Abby Steele, a goalkeeper from Santa Rosa, Calif., attended the U.S. Under-20 National Team Camp which was held in late April at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. She was one of three goalkeepers invited for the training camp.
