MPSF Honors 16 Ducks for Academics

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation selected 16 Ducks, including several members of Oregon's NCAA women's indoor national championship team, as all-academic scholar-athletes for the 2011 indoor season.
Members of the NCAA Champion women's team included two-time individual winner Jordan Hasay. The sophomore from Arroyo Grande, Calif., won both the indoor mile and 3,000 meter titles and holds a 3.96 grade point average. Additional members honored include two-time pentathlon national champion Brianne Theisen (3.43 GPA), sophomore Anne Kesselring (4.10 GPA), senior Melissa Gergel (3.3 GPA) and senior Zoe Buckman (3.08 GPA).
Other women recognized included freshman Laura Bobek (3.57 GPA), junior Jordan Roskelley (3.45 GPA), junior Lyndsay Pearson (3.26 GPA), senior Amy Skofstad (3.15 GPA) and sophomore Alexandria Davidson (3.11 GPA).
For the men, indoor All-Americans David Klech and Elijah Greer led the way. Klech, a senior from San Ramon, Calif., who finished sixth in the heptathlon, holds a 3.96 GPA, while Greer, a sophomore from Lake Oswego, Ore., is at 3.47.
Others honorees for the men included junior Matt Butcher (3.61 GPA), senior Eric Hersey (3.35 GPA), senior Jordan Stray (3.39 GPA) and junior Brian Schaudt (3.26 GPA).
