Little Advances to Oregon Amateur Semifinal

PORTLAND, Ore. – In the fifth day of the Oregon Amateur Championship, senior Kendra Little won her quarterfinal, then lost in a playoff in the semifinal to wrap up play in the event hosted at the Waverley Country Club.
In Thursday’s match play round of 8, Little defeated fellow Eugene native Caroline Inglis, 5 and 4, then lost in the semifinal to Jillian Carlile of Vancouver, Wash., on a one-hole playoff after they were tied after 18.
In regulation, scoring was fairly even between the two as Carlile won five of the first 13 holes (#3, 7-8, 11, 13). Little made up a two-hole deficit with wins on two of the final four holes (#15, 17) after also taking holes #4, 5 and 12. The duo tied on the remaining eight holes in regulation (#1-2, 6, 9-10, 14, 16, 18).
In the first hole of the playoff, the twosome returned to the first hole, and Carlile shot par on the par-4, 314-yard hole, while Little ended with a bogey.

In the Thursday’s match play round of 16, Little defeated Amy Anderson of Bend, 6 and 5, while senior teammate Erica Omlid lost, 2 and 1, to returning champion Monica Vaughn of Reedsport. On Wednesday, Omlid topped Kristin Janinis of Bandon, Ore., 5 and 4, and Little beat Loree McKay of Portland, 6 and 5.
Earlier in the week, Omlid and Little stood in ties for sixth and ninth place overall after the two rounds of stroke play with scores of 151 (76-75) and 153 (76-77), respectively. Inglis topped the 47-woman field by two strokes (70-72-142).
Looking ahead, Carlile will face another former Duck, Lara Tennant in Saturday's 36-hole championship final.
