Trio Headed to Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational

Freshmen Dakotah Keys and Alec Fellows will be competing in their first collegiate decathlons. Keys, from Sweet Home, Ore., redshirted the 2011 outdoor season after suffering an injury following the first meet of the season. He scored 7,204 points in the decathlon at the 2008 USATF junior championships.
Fellows is a true freshman and a two-time high school state decathlon champion from Woodway, Wash.
Also slated to make her 2012 outdoor debut is two-time NCAA heptathlon champion Brianne Theisen. The senior from Humboldt, Sask., won her third consecutive NCAA indoor pentathlon title last month in Nampa, Idaho. She will compete in selected events at the Sam Adams meet and not the full heptathlon.
Oregon will also send a small contingent of distance runners to the 10,000 meters Friday night at the Stanford Invitational, before returning to host the Pepsi Team Invitational Saturday at Historic Hayward Field. The Ducks will face three-time defending NCAA men's and women's champion Texas A&M and Pac-12 rivals UCLA and Washington.
Early field events for the Pepsi meet begin at 10:15 a.m., with the first running event at 12:30 p.m.
