Theisen, Gardner, Johnson Honored by USTFCCCA

EUGENE, Ore. -- Record-setting heptathlete Brianne Theisen, three-time Pac-12 champion English Gardner and associate head coach Robert Johnson were honored Monday as the best in the West Region by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
All three were integral parts of Oregon's fourth straight Pac-12 title in 2012.
Theisen, a senior from Humboldt, Sask., is the collegiate leader in the heptathlon, having scored the third-best score in collegiate history (6,353 points) to win her third Pac-12 title in 2012. Theisen also recorded a clearance in the high jump of 6-0 (1.83m) which among the top ten in the collegiate ranks this season. A member of the Bowerman Watch List, Theisen will try for her third NCAA title in the heptathlon this week in Des Moines.
Gardner, a sophomore from Voorhees, N.J., was a three-time champion at the Pac-12 meet. Individually, she won the 100 (wind-aided 11.00) and 200 (22.82) meters and also ran on Oregon's victorious 4x100 meter relay squad. She ranks second nationally in the 100 meters. Gardner will compete at the NCAA Championships in the 100 meters and the 4x100-meter relay.
Johnson, in his third year as Oregon's associate head coach and seventh year overall with the University, helped lead Oregon to its fourth straight conference title in the inaugural Pac-12 Championships. The Ducks have 19 entries competing in Des Moines, the most among all women's programs. Oregon is ranked No. 1 in the West Region and No. 3 nationally.
