Ducks Cap Slate Ranked No. 9 in Both National Polls

EUGENE – In return for another record-breaking season, the University of Oregon softball team (50-11, 19-5) staked its second straight top-10 year-end national rankings.
Tabbed No. 9 in both the USA Softball and NFCA coaches polls, the Ducks were one of three top-10 ranked teams from the Pac-12 with No. 4/4 Washington and No. 7/7 Arizona State.
Overall, Oregon was one of six league members that ranked top 25 nationally in the two polls with No. 21/22 Stanford, No. 19/21 UCLA and No. 24/23 California, while Arizona also picked up votes.
For comparison's sake, a complete list of Pac-12 rankings from the previous USA SB/NFCA mid-May edition follows: No. 3/3 Oregon, No. 4/4 Arizona State, No. 9/11 Washington, No. 24/23 California, No. 13/14 Stanford and No. 13/16 UCLA.
Six other Duck non-conference foes in 2013 were also tabbed top 25 by the USA SB/NFCA – national champion and No. 1/1 Oklahoma, No. 5/5 Florida, No. 6/6 Michigan, No. 16/18 LSU, No. 8/8 Nebraska and No. 25/24 Hawai’i.
Altogether, No. 1/1 Oklahoma remained atop the national rankings after it won the national title over Tennessee, and the remaining top-five teams included No. 2/2 Tennessee, No. 3/3 Texas, No. 4/4 Washington and No. 5/5 Florida.
Under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Mike White, the Ducks also sported top-15 year-end finishes in 2012 (5/5), ’11 (14/15) and ’10 (14/14).
