Highlights: By his own admission, Marcus Mariota was “not me” as a passer against Stanford, misfiring on several throws despite finishing a very respectable 19-of-30. There was zero carryover today in 7-on-7. He peppered the ball around to Dwayne Stanford, Pharaoh Brown, Charles Nelson, Byron Marshall and Evan Baylis. On the defensive field, Troy Hill had a great leaping interception, and Justin Hollins did a nice job on one rep of manning his zone and then coming up to make the stop on a screen pass.

Other observations: Outside linebacker Mike Garrity will wear No. 57 as of this week. Garrity formerly shared No. 38 with punter Ian Wheeler; the number change will make it possible for Garrity to play with Wheeler on the punt team. ... No. 57 had been worn by outside linebacker Ryan McCandless, who retired from football earlier this year due to concussion symptoms and is now an undergraduate assistant coach. It is also worn by offensive guard Doug Brenner. ... ICYMI, Mariota was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award as national player of the year on offense, and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu is a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award for defensive players. Mariota also was named Pac-12 offensive player of the week for the second week in a row and third time this season.
