Ducks Start Outdoor Season in LA

This Week:
Coming off first and second place finishes at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend, the Oregon men’s and women’s track and field teams will transition to the outdoor season starting in Los Angeles at the Trojan Invitational, March 20-21.

Oregon Entries:
Oregon’s men’s throwers will be in action with defending national champion Sam Crouser entered in the javelin and All-American Greg Skipper entered in the weight throw. For the women, Jillian Weir will make her 2015 debut in the hammer throw after winning the Pac-12 Championship last season. Ariana Washington will compete in the 100 coming off an All-American performance in the 200 indoors and sophomore Sasha Wallace will take part in the 100 hurdles.
Indoor Honors:
Eric Jenkins was named the USTFCCCA Division I Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year while Robert Johnson and Andy Powell were awarded the Men’s Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year awards.

Fan Fest:
Fans are invited to join the Oregon track and field team at Hayward Field on Saturday, March 28 for the team’s first-ever Fan Fest, where fans of all ages will be able meet members of the Ducks’ track and field team and take part in a community mile race, while children ages 5-12 will be able to participate in the annual Run, Jump, Throw Clinic.

Bowerman Watch:
After UO’s Laura Roesler became the first Oregon woman to take home The Bowerman Trophy in December, fellow NCAA Champion Jenna Prandini is on the preseason watch list for the award this season.
On the men’s side, sophomore Edward Cheserek and senior Eric Jenkins are in the group of 10 on the watch list.

Bright Future:
The 2015 Oregon men’s and women’s track and field recruiting classes were both ranked among the top two in the nation by Track and Field News.?The women’s team brought in the top class for the second-straight year No. 1 with five All-Americans. The men’s team was No. 2 with three All-Americans.
