Takeda Taken in NPF Draft

EUGENE, Ore. - Senior outfielder Janie Takeda was taken in the National Pro Fastpitch draft on Wednesday, going No. 26 overall to the Dallas Charge.
The NPF is made up of five teams - the Pennsylvania Rebellion, the Akron Racers, the USSSA Pride, the Chicago Bandits and the Dallas Charge - with its season starting May 29 and ending Aug. 17.
The Charge is an expansion team this year and the 2015 season will be its first.
The six round draft was held on Wednesday in Nashville, Tenn., with Oklahoma first baseman Lauren Chamberlain going No. 1 overall.
Last year two Ducks were selected in the NPF draft, with both Courtney Ceo and Alexa Peterson going to the USSSA Pride in Orlando, Fla. Kailee Cuico signed a free agent deal after the season with the Akron Racers.
Takeda was also named to the USA National Team for the 2015 summer season and will pick between the two teams.
College seniors are eligible for the NPF draft and can sign contacts at the end of the current collegiate season.
