UO Signs NWAC Player of the Year Mar'Shay Moore

EUGENE, Ore. - Head coach Kelly Graves has announced the addition of Northwest Athletic Conference player of the year, shooting guard Mar'Shay Moore, to the Ducks' 2015-16 roster.
Moore, who grew up in Vancouver, Wash., and attended Fort Vancouver HS, was named NWAC player of the year at Blue Mountain CC after averaging a league-high 24.1 points per game last year as a sophomore.
"Mar'Shay's story is an incredible journey of persistence and hard work," said Graves. "She's the kind of player who will find a way to get it done, whatever it might be. She has the ability to create her own shot, she can get to the rim and knock down a three-point shot. She's a gym rat and she'll give us defensive quickness on the perimeter. She has an infectious, fun-spirited personality and I can't wait to coach her."
The 5-foot-8 guard also had 12 double-doubles, averaging 8.4 rebounds per game last season. Moore set at NWAC Tournament record when she tallied 123 points over four games.
"I'm excited and proud for Mar'Shay," said Adam Driver, Blue Mountain CC head coach. "She put in so much work in the offeseason and to see that pay off is tremendous. She's going to continue to grow and develop and I'm sure she'll do big things at Oregon."
Moore is the first female Blue Mountain CC student-athlete in any sport to play at the Div. 1 level.
"Mar'Shay's an incredible young woman with the drive to succeed," said Christy Martin, former BMCC head coach, now at Tacoma CC. "She has worked so hard, even against the odds, to become the talented player she is. I can't wait to see the positive mark she will make at Oregon. I am so happy for her."
Moore joins fellow junior college signee, point Megan Trinder, in the Ducks' 2015 recruiting class. The class also includes freshmen Lauren Yearwood, Oti Gildon and Maite Cazorla. Moore will have three years to play two for the Ducks.
