Prandini Named National Athlete of the Week

WALNUT SPRINGS, Calif. – Jenna Prandini was honored as the Division I Women’s Athlete of the Week by the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association on Tuesday after a stellar performance at the Mt. SAC Relays last weekend.
Prandini highlighted the weekend by winning the 100 with a wind-legal time of 10.92, breaking the previous school record of 10.96 set by English Gardner in 2013. The Clovis, Calif., native is now tied with Elaine Thompson for the fastest time in the world this season, and now owns the second-fastest time in NCAA history, the best since Dawn Sowell in 1989.
Prandini owns sole possession of the world-leading mark in the 200 after winning in 22.42, breaking her owns school record of 22.60 set last season.
The honor goes with the Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week Award, which she earned from the conference on Monday.
The Ducks will compete this week at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The meet begins Thursday and will be streamed live on Flotrack.
