Oregon Well Represented at OSU High Performance Meet

This Week:
The Oregon track and field team will be represented at two meets this weekend with most of the team will making the quick trip to the OSU High Performance Meet in Corvallis, Ore., on Friday while a handful of student-athletes will run at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif., on Saturday.

Oregon Entries:
Entries in the OSU High Perfromance meet include a good mix of Ducks from, distance, hurdles, jumps and throws. Two of Oregon’s top hurdlers are expected to compete in Jonathan Cabral and Sasha Wallace. Nikki Hiltz and Katie Porada, who each qualified for the NCAA Championships in the mile, are entered in the 1,500 and Waverly Neer is looking to make her Oregon track debut in the 5,000.
At the Payton Jordan Invitational, freshman Blake Haney will run his first race in an Oregon uniform in the 1,500 along with Daniel Winn. Jake Leingang will run the 5,000. On the women’s side, Alli Cash and Firda Berge are entered in the steeplechase with Molly Grabill and Maggie Schmaedick entered in the 5,000.
Rankings:
In the latest USTFCCCA computer rankings, the Oregon men’s team fell to No. 5 where they have remained a constant all season while the women remained constant at No. 6.
National Leaders:
Jenna Prandini is setting the pace in the 100 and 200 after her time at the Mt. SAC Relays. Prandini ran 10.92 in the 100 and 22.42 in the 200.
Prandini Back-to-Back Pac-12 Honors:
Jenna Prandini was named the Pac-12 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, April 13, after winning the long jump last weekend at the Pepsi Invitational. Prandini, a redshirt junior, flew to a win in the long jump with a best mark of 21-0.5, beating out a strong field that contained Kentucky’s Kenyattia Hackworth and teammate Jasmine Todd. The mark ranks fourth in the NCAA this season.
The following week, April 20, she was named the conference’s women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her record-setting performances at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Crouser, Prandini Named Athlete of the Week:
Sam Crouser was named the USTFCCCA Division I Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, March 24 for his performance at the Trojan Invitational.
Prandini was named the Division I Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, April 21 after her historic weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays where she set two world-leading times and two school records in the 100 and 200.
Indoor Honors:
Eric Jenkins was named the USTFCCCA Division I Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year while Robert Johnson and Andy Powell were awarded the Men’s Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year awards.
Bowerman Watch:
After UO’s Laura Roesler became the first Oregon woman to take home The Bowerman Trophy in December, fellow NCAA Champion Jenna Prandini is on the preseason watch list for the award this season.
On the men’s side, sophomore Edward Cheserek and senior Eric Jenkins are in the group of 10 on the watch list.
Bright Future:
The 2015 Oregon men’s and women’s track and field recruiting classes were both ranked among the top two in the nation by Track and Field News. The women’s team brought in the top class for the second-straight year No. 1 with five All-Americans. The men’s team was No. 2 with three All-Americans.
