Trio of Ducks Earn All-Pac-12 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Oregon juniors Brandon McIver, Zach Foushee and freshman Aaron Wise all earned Second-Team All-Pac-12 selections as announced by the conference on Friday, May 1. In addition, Wise was also named to the All-Pac-12 Freshman Team.
This is the first time earning all-conference honors for the trio and the first time Oregon has had three named to the all-conference team since 2012. Wise joined Thomas Lim as the only other freshman in UO history to be named to the All-Pac-12 Freshman Team.
Wise, who became the sixth Oregon golfer to ever win two tournaments in a single season, recently wrapped up the Pac-12 Championships in second place with an 8-under 272 card – four strokes ahead of the third-place finisher. The Lake Elsinore, Calif., product currently leads the team with a 71.11 stroke average through 37 rounds of play this season. The freshman claimed his first collegiate victory at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic with a 10-under 203 in the fall and followed up with a 9-under 207 victory at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate. His wins at Ka’anapali and the Desert Mountain tournaments gave UO its fourth and fifth victories of the 2015 season.
Foushee has the second-lowest stroke average on the squad at 71.59 through 37 rounds. The three-time letter winner for Oregon tied for sixth at the Pac-12 Championships after shooting even-par through four rounds (280), marking the sixth time he has finished in the top 10 this season. Prior to the championships, Foushee finished in a tie for fourth at the 69th Annual Western Intercollegiate held at Pasatiempo Golf Club with a 3-under 207. The West Linn, Ore., native’s 2-under 68 card in the final round of the conference championships allowed Oregon to capture second-place over Arizona State by a stroke.
McIver has continued to be a steady rock and leader for the Ducks, checking in with a 71.62 stroke average through 34 rounds. The Billings, Mont., product also participated in the first-ever Northern Trust Open Collegiate Showcase this year, carding a 74 at the Riviera Country Club. In the fall, McIver’s 9-under 62 opening round card at the Ka’anapali Classic tied the UO record for lowest round ever. His 62 card also tied for third all-time in the Pac-12 record books and counted toward Oregon’s NCAA record breaking 30-under 254 card. McIver finished in a tie for third at the prestigious Amer Ari Invitational with a 13-under 203 card.
Stanford’s Maverick McNealy was named the Pac-12 Men’s Golfer of the Year after a dominating performance at the Pac-12 Championships with an 18-under 262 card. USC’s Sean Crocker was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year after finishing in a tie for sixth at the conference championships.
Arizona State head coach Tim Mickelson was tabbed the Pac-12 Coach of the Year after guiding to the Sun Devils to five tournament victories and 10 top-3 finishes.
All-conference selections, player of the year, freshman of the year and coach of the year was voted on by the Pac-12 men’s golf coaches.
The Ducks will find out on Monday, May 4, at 7 a.m. on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive where they will be headed for the NCAA Regionals.
