Softball Cleans Up on Pac-12 Postseason Awards
EUGENE, Ore. – Cheridan Hawkins was named pitcher of the year for the second straight season while Jenna Lilley earned freshman of the year recognition as the Pac-12 announced its postseason awards and all-conference teams on Wednesday.
In addition to her Pac-12 pitcher of the year honor, Hawkins was named first team all-Pac-12 and first team all-defense. Hawkins is leading the Pac-12 with a 1.39 ERA, nearly a full point better than the second-best ERA in the conference (2.28). Her 27 wins and .140 opposing batting average is also the best in the league while the junior’s 224 strikeouts are second-most in the conference.
Lilley was also a first team all-league choice in addition to picking up all-freshman and honorable mention all-defense accolades. Lilley’s .448 batting average is second best in the Pac-12 and her .513 on-base percentage is also the second highest. Lilley leads the Ducks with 56 runs scored and 15 doubles.
In all, the Ducks earned four first team all-Pac-12 choices (Hawkins, Lilley, Janelle Lindvall and Janie Takeda), two second team all-league picks (Koral Costa and Nikki Udria) and three honorable mention selections (Hailey Decker, Geri Ann Glasco and Gwen Svekis). Takeda are Hawkins are both three-time first team all-Pac-12 choices.
In addition to Lilley, Lauren Lindvall and Gwen Svekis earned all-freshman honors while Janelle Lindvall joined Hawkins on the first team all-defensive team. Udria and Lilley were honorable mention all-defense.
