Inglis Named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month

EUGENE, Ore. - Recent Pac-12 Champion, Caroline Inglis, has been named the Pac-12 Women’s Golfer of the Month for her play during the month of April. The honor marks the first time that an Oregon women’s golfer has earned the Pac-12 monthly accolade.
In the first of two tournaments that Inglis competed in during the month of April, the junior tied for fifth place individually at the Silverado Showdown with a 5-over 221 (72-75-74) and guided the Ducks to the team title, playing a key part in their 889. The team victory marked the second spring title for the Ducks – the first time the program has accomplished the feat since the 2000 spring season when they won the Colby Invitational and the Lady Aztec Invitational in back-to-back weekends in March.
A week later, the Eugene, Ore., native played the best tournament of her career and won the individual title at the Pac-12 Championships with a 7-under 206 (67-72-67). The 206 is the second-lowest 54-hole total in school history and her 67’s in the first and third rounds are tied for the fourth-lowest rounds in school history.
Inglis’ win at Boulder Country Club marks the first-ever individual conference champion for UO, and the Ducks’ second-place finish (6-over, 858) is also the best team finish and score at a conference championships in program history.
Currently possessing a 72.21 round average, the Churchill High School alumna is on pace to break senior Cassy Isagawa’s round average school record 72.76 that she set her freshman year in the 2011-12 season.
Inglis finished in the top 10 in five out of Oregon’s six spring tournaments, with her last four results seeing her finish in the top 5. After recording a round average of 75.27 as a freshman and then a 74.00 as a sophomore, she will finish her third year of collegiate golf with having trimmed more than a full stroke off her previous year’s average in three-consecutive seasons.
Inglis and the rest of the Ducks will continue postseason play this week at the NCAA Regionals in San Antonio, Texas at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club beginning on Thursday, May 7 running through Saturday, May 9.
