2015 Volleyball Schedule Announced

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon volleyball team released its schedule for the 2015 season on Monday, with some high-profile teams lined up before heading into conference play.
In a tournament hosted by Texas, the Ducks will play Florida, Friday, Sept. 4 followed by Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 5. The Gators finished the 2014 season as No. 6 in the AVCA Coaches’ Poll while Nebraska finished No. 8 after both teams advanced to the round-of-eight in last season’s NCAA Tournament.
The season will begin with a tournament in Philadelphia, Pa, with St. John’s, Navy and Temple all on the docket from Aug. 28-29. From there, the Ducks will play matches against LIU Brooklyn (Aug. 31) and George Washington (Sept. 1) before traveling to Austin.
The grueling two week stretch on the road will conclude with away matches at Texas-San Antonio on Sept. 7 and Texas State on Sept. 8.
“The nonconference schedule will test our team on the road and help build our résumé for the postseason,” said head coach Jim Moore. “We’ll have a great opportunity to compete against some of the best competition in the country with the tournament in Austin before getting into the Pac-12 schedule.”
Oregon will have two weeks to recover before it begins Pac-12 play with the Civil War in Corvallis on Thursday, Sept. 24.
The Ducks will open their home schedule, Friday, Oct. 2 against Colorado, with Utah in town, Sunday, Oct. 4. From there, Oregon will make trips to the Bay Area (Oct. 9-11) and Washington schools (Oct. 16-18) in consecutive weeks before the southern California schools come to Matthew Knight Arena, Oct. 23-25.
After a return trip to Utah and Colorado, patience will pay off with six of the last eight regular season matches on Oregon’s home court where the Ducks went 15-3 last season.
It will be easier than ever to watch the Ducks this season, with a record 17 televised matches on ESPNU and the Pac-12 Networks. All but three conference matches will be televised with ESPNU picking up Oregon’s match against Arizona, Sept. 27 and the home match against Stanford, Nov. 5.
“This conference is always great from top to bottom and will be no different this year,” Moore said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge and am excited to have so many matches on the Pac-12 Networks and ESPN for our fans.”
