Three Selected In MLB Draft Tuesday

EUGENE, Ore. – Garrett Cleavinger, Josh Graham and Mitchell Tolman were drafted on day two of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday.
Cleavinger (Baldwin City, Kan. / Lawrence HS) was drafted in the third round, 102nd overall pick, by the Baltimore Orioles. The junior closer was a Pac-12 Conference first-team all-league pick while compiling a 6-2 record with a 1.58 ERA and nine saves. He led the Ducks in saves and ERA, while finishing second in appearances with 37. The left-hander struck out 66 batters in just 40 innings of work. His nine saves were the fourth most in a season at Oregon, while his 37 appearances ranked in a tie for third and his 35 games finished tied for the most in a single season. During his three years at Oregon, Cleavinger has compiled an 18-4 record with a 1.94 ERA and 13 saves. He struck out 172 batters in 116 innings pitched. Cleavinger ranks first all-time at Oregon in career appearances (109) and lowest opponent batting average (.165), while also ranking among the career leaders in wins (6th), strikeouts (7th), saves (2nd) and games finished (2nd).
Graham (Roseburg, Ore. / Roseburg HS) went to the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round, pick number 120. The junior right-handed pitcher finished the season with a 4-1 record and a 2.63 ERA with one save. The converted catcher started six games while making 19 appearances. He fanned 64 in 65 innings while allowing just 48 hits.
Tolman (Lake Forest, Calif. / El Toro HS) was picked in the seventh round, 217 overall, by the Pittsburgh Pirates. The third baseman was a Pac-12 Conference first-team all-league pick as both a sophomore and a junior. This season he batted a team-best .325 with three home runs and 40 RBI, while also finishing with school-record tying 20 doubles and 11 stolen bases. During his three seasons at Oregon, Tolman batted .319 with six home runs and 128 RBI. He is the school’s all-time leader in doubles (47), RBI (128), on-base percentage (.433) and multiple-RBI games (32), while also ranking in the career top 10 in hits (2nd), walks (2nd), hit-by-pitches (2nd), intentional walks (3rd), slugging percentage (3rd), at bats (4th), multiple-hit games (3rd), games started (4th), runs (6th), triples (8th)
Oregon has now had 32 players drafted since 2009 with a total of 51 Ducks drafted all-time. The MLB Draft continues Wednesday with rounds 11 through 40.
