Postgame Quotes: Oregon vs. Colorado
Kelly Graves- Head Coach
On the win over Colorado…
“This was a really hard-fought game. We certainly weren’t at our best today, but I give a lot of credit to Colorado. They came in with nothing to lose, they played harder than we did and they played more physically than we did, especially in that first quarter. At the end of the second quarter, we at least got back into the game, I still don’t really know how. Then, the second half we went on a couple of really nice runs to separate ourselves… All in all its one of those games that we are happy we won.”
On if Ducks came out flat energy wise, or if they were just missing shots…
“It was a little bit of both. We were missing some pretty good looks early, but when you are getting outhustled and beat up physically it makes it tough … We were just playing a little tentative and I think that comes back to us not being ready… In the end though we got a nice win.”
On full court pressure…
“Yeah, yeah that pressure really helped. There were a couple of stretches there where we really started to separate. We never could quite knock them out though.”
Jillian Alleyne - Senior, Forward
On the slow start...
"Colorado was making their shots. They came out hungry, ready to play, and we weren't ready to play when we first came out. That's been our problem all year. For us to come back the way we do in the second half is really good because in the first half of the season we weren't really a second half team."
On having 19 wins this season...
"If I could sum it up in one word...just awesome. Really remarkable. I was actually thinking about that earlier this week, about my first season here. To have 19 wins, it's big. The teams that have 19 or 20 wins are the teams that are going to have a postseason. We're playing for a lot right now and we're trying to make our case to the NCAA."
On preparing for the next games...
"I actually had Maite over and we were watching the Washington UCLA game. Before shootaround, we were checking in and seeing what the score was. We're always engaged with who's doing well and who's playing well in the conference."
Maite Cazorla, Freshman - Guard
On Colorado's first half performance...
"They were tough. They were making fouls all the time, they were playing hard, doing the things that they have to do."
On playing with this team...
"It's exciting. I mean we want to play in the NCAA tournament. We played hard today, we're excited to go there.
