Q: Why should I make a gift to the University of Oregon Athletic Department?
A: Duck fans and friends donate to Oregon Athletics for a wide variety of reasons. Some make gifts because they value supporting student-athletes and feel a duty provide a top-tier academic and athletic experience. Others appreciate the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with the athletic department. Others love the Ducks and want to see Oregon teams compete on the national stage! Donations are also made to increase priority points and for donor perks
Q: Oregon Athletics has enough money...why is my gift important?
A: Private giving equates to approximately 25% of the revenue generated by Oregon Athletics to provide and extraordinary student-athlete experience, to recruit the BEST student-athletes and coaches, and to prepare young men and women for success in competition, the classroom, and life. The athletic department is among a select group of approx. 20 around the country that is financially self-sustaining, meaning the University of Oregon does not fund any athletic department expenditures. Oregon Athletics is financially stable because generations of Ducks have invested in student-athletes and the department. A gift to Oregon Athletics supports the people and programs that enrich the Eugene community, state of Oregon, and beyond.
Q: What is the most impactful way to donate and show my support?
A: All gifts of all sizes make a huge impact! The most rewarding transactions happen when donors feel fulfilled by their philanthropy and passionate about the impact. One of the most powerful ways to support the academic and athletic success of the Ducks is to make a gift to the Duck Athletic Fund or Women In Flight. Those unrestricted funds provide much-needed flexible funding for student-athlete scholarships, academic support, leading-edge technology and conditioning equipment, leadership and mentoring programs, study abroad opportunities, internships, recruiting and retaining the nation's best coaches, and much more.
Q: Is my gift to Oregon Athletics tax deductible?
A: Gifts in support of Oregon Athletics play a vital role in impacting the lives of over 450 student-athletes. Contributions fund the costs of student-athlete scholarships and related student expenses allowing the University of Oregon to provide one of the best student-athlete experiences in the country. With recent changes in our country’s tax laws and policies, we encourage you to consult a tax adviser regarding all contributions in order to understand how these changes could affect you.
