Jason Dillard is in his second season as the head coach of the Oregon beach volleyball program.
In his first season, Dillard guided the Ducks to a program-record 14 wins in 2022; finished the year with a 14-18 record. Among the highlights was a 4-1 victory over then-No. 17 Arizona at the Pac-12 South Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., for the program's first-ever win over a ranked opponent. The team also had a pair of conference wins over Washington. The Ducks also picked up a win over Utah in the opening round of the Pac-12 Championship.
Dillard tallied his first-career victory Feb. 25, 2022, with Oregon's 5-0 win over Irvine Valley in the team's season opener.
At season's end, Brooke Nuneviller was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team while Reagan Hope earned a spot on the league's All-Freshman Team. Playing together at the No. 1 spot in the Ducks' lineup, the duo were 16-11 with five wins over Pac-12 opponents. Nuneviller and Hope were the first all-conference selections in program history.
Dillard has spent 18 years as the director and head coach of the Goldenwest Volleyball Club (GWVBC), a program that has produced nearly 250 college players including 93 at the Division I level. Collectively, the program’s players have won 34 Junior Olympics medals and collected 21 Junior All-America honors.
In developing a quality coaching staff, GWVBC has also been home to two American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 recipients and one USA Volleyball assistant coach.
Dillard spent 12 seasons (2006-17) at Fullerton College where he helped guide the Hornets to a 164-110 overall record and nine postseason appearances including two trips to the California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) State Tournament. During Dillard’s time at Fullerton College, the program produced 17 NCAA Division I transfers, three Orange Empire Conference MVPs and one CCCAA All-State performer.
After eight seasons as the Hornets’ assistant coach, Dillard was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2014 season and then spent the final two years as the program’s head coach. He also served as the recruiting coordinator for Fullerton College.
Dillard also brings Division I experience having served as an assistant coach at UC Riverside (2004-05). In one complete season, the Highlanders were 16-11 overall with an All-Big West selection during the 2005 campaign.
In additional work within the Eugene and Pacific Northwest volleyball communities, Dillard has been an Oregon Volleyball Camps director. Past camp duties also include working with Stanford and University of Rhode Island.
From 2001-03, Dillard was an assistant coach at the high school level for Mater Dei and Esperanza.
Dillard earned an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Monica City College (’01) where he was the two-year starting setter for the men’s volleyball team. He also spent one season as the team captain and helped Santa Monica to a playoff appearance.
He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from Long Beach State (’04).
Dillard and his wife Erika—UO Volleyball (indoor) associate head coach—have three children: Reagan, Caden and Bryson.
