Oregon head coach Kathy Arendsen and the UO team proudly welcome former All-American and pro player Kim (Ogee) Harris back to the Duck staff for her second season in 2008.
After an All-America collegiate career, she started in centerfielder in her two professional seasons for the California Sunburns and the New York-New Jersey Juggernauts. She also participated in USA Softball's National Team Camp and played in the 2002 Canada Cup for the Phoenix Storm, and again in '03 for the Nationals, along with various other international tournaments.
A four-year letterwinner at Nebraska from 2000-03, (Ogee) Harris was tabbed an NFCA Third-Team All-American in 2002 after leading the Huskers to the College World Series. That season she led the Huskers in nine offensive categories, including batting average (.356) and steals (31). She was a four-time All-Regional tournament pick and two-time All-Big 12 pick (2002, '03).
As a senior she reset the school record for career steals (100) and held other school records in doubles (48), at-bats (795), games (258), and other top-10 career marks in hits (second, 263), runs (second, 182), walks (third, 115), RBIs (seventh, 113), average (eighth, .331). Her prolific offensive career also included school records for runs (game, 4), doubles (game, 3), triples (game, 2), at bats (season, 221), stolen bases (32). Upon graduation, she was also spotted in the Nebraska record books with top-20 positions on all-time lists in batting average (13th, .356, '02), runs (third, 55, '02), doubles (third, 16; '03; seventh, 12, '02), stolen bases (season, third, 27, '01), hits (fourth, 74, 2000) and walks (fifth, 37, '02; sixth, 34, '03).
Off the field as a collegian, she was rewarded with Academic All-America honors in '02 and three Academic All-Big 12 First-Team laurels. She graduated from Nebraska in May 2003 with a bachelor's degree in family and consumer science.
As a prep, the Omaha, Neb., native was a two-time all-state pick and a four-year letterwinner in softball, track and basketball.
She and her husband, James, UO athletic's director of nutrition, are parents to one daughter Kamryon (9-22-06).
