- Interim Head Coach
Tony Stubblefield was named interim head coach on October 7, 2026, after Dana Altman announced his retirement.
Â
Stubblefield returned to the Oregon staff prior to the 2024-25 season after serving three seasons as head coach at DePaul from 2021-24. He spent the previous 11 seasons on Coach Altman’s Oregon staff, helping the Ducks secure 20-plus wins in all 11 seasons. The Ducks reached eight NCAA Tournaments during his tenure, including five Sweet 16s, two Elite Eights and a Final Four. Oregon also claimed four regular-season conference championships and four conference tournament championships with Stubblefield on staff.
Â
During his tenure, Stubblefield helped Oregon assemble five recruiting classes ranked among the top 12 nationally (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021). Included in those classes were future NBA players Troy Brown Jr., Louis King, Bol Bol, Payton Pritchard and Chris Duarte.
Â
Prior to joining Oregon in 2010, Stubblefield spent four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Cincinnati. Before Cincinnati, he spent six seasons at New Mexico State (2000-06), and was elevated to the interim position before the 2004-05 season when head coach Lou Henson was unable to coach due to health reasons. As recruiting coordinator, Stubblefield brought in three nationally ranked top-100 prospects, including a McDonald's All-American and a junior college All-American.
Â
Stubblefield began his Division I coaching career at UT Arlington, where he spent four seasons (1996-2000) as lead assistant and recruiting coordinator. He helped recruit two top-10 prospects from Texas, along with first-team all-region junior college players from Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. He also spent one season at UTSA (1995-96), where he coached the guards and served as the program's top recruiter. Stubblefield began his coaching career as a student assistant at his alma mater, Omaha, from 1993-95.
Â
A native of Clinton, Iowa, Stubblefield played two seasons at Clinton (Iowa) Community College from 1989-91 before transferring to Omaha, where he earned two letters as a guard and served as team captain during his senior season. He attended Bloomfield (Colo.) High School, earning first-team all-state honors and Boulder County Player of the Year recognition as a senior.
