Game Notes: Another Road Test Awaits in Tucson
01/12/18 | Men's Basketball
Oregon's stretch of back-to-back road games versus ranked opponents continues when the Ducks face No. 17 Arizona on Saturday (11 a.m. PT, ESPN2) in Tucson.
THE STARTING FIVE
• 1 – Thursday at No. 11 Arizona State, the Ducks defeated a top-11 team on the road for the first time since Jan. 14, 2007, when 15th-ranked Oregon upset No. 10 Arizona 79-77 in Tucson.
• 2 – Thursday's win was also the first time in 41 years that an unranked Oregon team upset a top-11 program on the road. The last Duck team to accomplish that feat was the unranked Kamikaze Kids, who stunned No. 7 UCLA, 61-60, Jan. 7, 1977, in Pauley Pavilion.
• 3 – Rebounding continues to be a benchmark of success for Oregon. The Ducks are 11-1 when outrebounding opponents.
• 4 – Led by Pac-12 blocks leader Kenny Wooten (2.9 per game), Oregon is +56 in blocked shots on the season, including a +22 margin over the last seven games. Wooten's 50 blocks already rank seventh on the UO single-season list; he'll enter the top five with three more blocks.
• 5 – With Oregon's next win, Dana Altman will claim his 200th victory at Oregon, a mark reached by only two other men, Hall of Famer Howard Hobson (212) and Ernie Kent (235). Nov. 17 against Alabama State, Altman became the 34th NCAA Division I coach to reach 600 career wins all-time. What's more, Altman is one of six active head coaches in NCAA Division I who have posted a winning record for the last 20 consecutive seasons (the other five are in the Hall of Fame).
