EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Megan Kleist was named Pac-12 pitcher of the year and nine players earned all-Pac-12 honors, the league announced on Saturday.
Kleist (20-5) is second in the league with a 0.96 ERA and leads the nation with a 12.5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The right-hander has 200 strikeouts in 160.2 innings and just 16 walks. She has more wins than walks allowed this season. Opponents are hitting just .176 against the junior.
Kleist has tossed two no-hitters this season and pitched a one-hit shutout against then-No. 2 ranked Oklahoma. She has not allowed more than three earned runs in any game this season and has posted double-digit strikeouts in 10 contests. She tallied a season-high 16 strikeouts against Ole Miss and had 14 strikeouts in a nine-inning complete game win at then-No. 4 ranked Washington. The efficient Kleist has needed more than 100 pitches in a game just six times.
Kleist was also named a first team all-Pac-12 selection, along with catcher Gwen Svekis, third baseman Jenna Lilley and fellow pitcher Miranda Elish.
Freshman Mary Iakopo was named a second team all-league pick along with shortstop DJ Sanders, second baseman Lauren Lindvall and outfielder Alexis Mack. Outfielder Haley Cruse was named a third team all-Pac-12 choice.
The Ducks placed both Lilley and Lindvall on the Pac-12 all-defensive team and Iakopo and Lauren Burke on the Pac-12 all-freshman squad.
