Duck Quartet Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

EUGENE, Ore. – In his first year of eligibility, senior Akihiro Tanaka has been named to the Pac-12 all-academic first team, while fellow seniors Cormac Clissold and Simon Stevens along with junior Thomas Laurent received second team honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
A junior transfer to UO, Tanaka was a staple for the Ducks at the No. 3 position finishing the season with a 10-12 record from the middle of the lineup. Tanaka maintained a 3.55 GPA in general social science to become the third straight Duck to be named to the all-academic first team.
Clissold earned his third straight all-academic second team accolade after finishing the season 19-10 overall in singles play while maintaining a 3.38 in business administration.
Laurent, along with Stevens each received their first all-academic second team honors.
This is Laurent's second career all-academic accolade after receiving first team honors last season. The French international led the team with a 26-7 singles record while partnering with Clissold for a 23-10 doubles record.
Just behind Laurent in the lineup, Stevens finished the season 8-9 at the No. 2 spot for an 18-12 overall record in singles play. Stevens was also a force for UO in doubles play, partnering with sophomore Ty Gentry for a team-high 24-10 record.
Laurent and Stevens both majored in general social sciences while earning a 3.51 and 3.36 GPA, respectively.
