06/18/18 | Cross Country, Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon track and field distance program will have a new look in 2018-19 after the University of Washington announced on Monday the hiring of Maurica Powell as its director of track and field and cross country and Andy Powell as the Huskies' head coach.
Maurica and Andy Powell have worked with the Ducks' distance runners since arriving at Oregon prior to the 2005-06 season.
"We are very excited for Maurica and Andy and this tremendous opportunity," said head coach Robert Johnson. "They have been a huge part of this program's success over the past 13 years, and we are extremely grateful for all they have done for the Ducks. We wish them nothing but the best at the University of Washington.
"A national search will begin immediately to identify the most gifted and best fit for our distance program and our student-athletes."
