29 Current and Former Ducks to Compete at U.S. Championships
06/20/18 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon track and field will be heavily represented this weekend at the USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, as 29 total current and former Ducks will be in action during the four-day meet at Drake Stadium.
There will be 11 members from the 2018 UO squad competing in Des Moines, including Ariana Washington and Damarcus Simpson, who both finished in the top three at last year's U.S. Championships in the 100 meters and the long jump, respectively.
Devon Allen, Matthew Centrowitz, Raevyn Rogers and Phyllis Francis headline a group of 18 former Oregon athletes set to compete.
The USATF Outdoor Championships will begin on Thursday and will run through Sunday. The meet will be live on NBC from 1 to 3 p.m. PT on Saturday and Sunday, while all four days of action will be available to stream on NBC Sports Gold. A delayed taping will be shown Friday on NBCSN from 8 to 10 p.m.
The 2018 USATF Championships will serve as a qualifying meet for two separate world meets: the 2018 Athletics World Cup in London, England (July 14-15), and the NACAC Senior Championships in Toronto, Canada (Aug. 10-12).
