CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Freshman Bryce Taylor scored 18 points to lead five Oregon players in double figures and the Ducks breezed to an 89-69 victory over Marshall on Saturday night.
Aaron Brooks added 16 points and freshman Malik Hairston had 15 for Oregon (3-0). Ian Crosswhite scored 13 and freshman Chamberlain Oguchi scored 11.
Oregon, which has no seniors, led the entire game and made 61 percent of its shots, including 13-of-21 3-pointers. The much-taller Ducks held a 37-22 rebounding advantage.
Oregon scored the final 10 points of the first half to jump ahead 39-24. The Thundering Herd closed the gap to eight midway through in the second half before Brooks, who had 13 points in the second half, hit a pair of 3-pointers and Marshall never threatened again.
Mark Patton and Tre Whitted had 17 points apiece for Marshall (1-2).
The game was the second in a two-year, neutral-site agreement between the schools. Oregon beat Marshall last year 90-61 in Portland, Ore.
For the third time in three games this season, Oregon held its opponent to under 40 percent shooting from the field. Marshall hit 39.3 percent from the floor (22-of-56), compared to the Ducks' season-best 60.7 percent (34-of-56). Oregon also made a season-high 13 three-point field goals, including four a piece from Taylor and Brooks and three from Oguchi.
The Ducks return to the hardwood next Saturday in Portland when they host Vanderbilt in the seventh annual Pape Jam. The event is played in The Rose Garden and tips off with the undefeated Oregon women's team battling George Washington at 1:30pm. The men's team will take on the Commodores at approximately 4:00pm. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
