
Men's Tennis Falls For The First Time

BOISE, Idaho ? The Ducks (5-1, 0-0) were unable to keep their undefeated season intact as they were defeated by the No. 33 Boise State Broncos, 5-2 late Friday night.
For the first time all season, Oregon was unable to grab the doubles point, losing two of three matches. Thomas Bieri and Manuel Kost were defeated for the first time this season, losing to Guillaume Bouvier and Thomas Schoeck, 8-6. Bouvier and Schoeck were currently rated the No. 42 doubles squad in the country.
Arron Spencer and Sven Swinnen gave the Ducks hope, defeating Mahmoud Rezk and Matias Silva, 8-3, but Eric Pickard and Markus Schiller fell in No. 3 doubles, 8-6, to Nils Kleeman and James Ludlow.
In singles play, Sven Swinnen defeated No. 41 ranked Guillaume Bouvier, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. The win gives Swinnen a perfect 6-0 singles record. No. 87 Thomas Schoeck took down Thomas Bieri, 6-3, 6-3. Manuel Kost looked strong, defeated No. 66 ranked Matias Silva, 6-4, 6-0.
The bottom half of the Boise State lineup took down the Ducks No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions. Nils Kleeman defeated Markus Schiller, 2-6, 7-6, 7-6 in a heartbreaker. Mahmoud Rezk needed three sets to dispose of Arron Spencer, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Rounding out the match was freshman Eric Pickard, who was beat by James Ludlow, 6-1, 6-1.
The Ducks continue action on Saturday when they play the Denver Pioneers in Boise, Idaho, at 6:30 p.m.
