ATHENS, Ga. ? The University of Oregon women's tennis team ended its season Monday, losing both opening round matches at the NCAA Individual Championships. Junior Daria Panova was upset by Manon Kruse of Middle Tennessee State, while freshman Dominika Dieskova lost to Stanford's Theresa Logar.
After reaching the Sweet 16 last season, No. 12 Panova fell short, losing in three sets to Kruse, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. It marked the fifth time in the last seven matches Panova has endured a three-set match. Panova finishes the season 32-14, tying the single-season wins mark set by her in 2002-03, and moving into a tie for first at Oregon with 72 career wins.
Dieskova, the first Duck freshman to ever reach the NCAA's, fought hard but lost, 6-2, 6-1, to Cardinal freshman Theresa Logar. Dieskova's final record of 20-17 marks the ninth best single-season wins total in program history.
