
Ducks 13th in Suspended Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. -- The Oregon men's golf team shot a 298 and was 13th following the first round of The Prestige, played Monday at the par-72, 7,156-yard Greg Norman Course at PGA West. Monday's second round was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning prior to the final round.
Derek Sipe led the Ducks by shooting a 1-over 73. The sophomore from Yorba Linda, Calif., was tied for 18th.
Three Ducks were tied for 39th following morning rounds of 75: senior Justin St. Clair, junior Matt Ma and sophomore Joey Benedetti.
UCLA shot an 8-under 280 to take a 10-stroke first round lead over Colorado. Just eight strokes separated the second through 13th place teams. Following the Buffalos at 290 were Stanford and UC Irvine at 291, Illinois at 293, Brigham Young and Yale at 295, Notre Dame and Northern Colorado at 296, California, Texas and Pepperdine at 297 and Oregon at 298.
Colorado's Edward Matza was the individual leader at 5-under 67, though a host of Bruins were lurking with Erik Flores at 69 and Chris Heintz and Lucas Lee both at 70.
