DENVER - The Oregon women's lacrosse team lost 21-2 against No. 3-ranked Northwestern on Saturday at Pioneer Field in Denver, Colo. The non-conference game put the Ducks at 0-3 overall, maintaining their 0-2 record for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. This was the second win for the Wildcats, putting them at 2-0 overall. They are 1-0 in the American Lacrosse Conference.
The score was 16-0 before Oregon's Jana Bradley (Encinitas, Calif./ La Costa Canyon) scored off a free-position shot with 17:43 remaining in the second half. It was the freshman midfielder's seventh goal of the season. Bradley is currently the Ducks' leading scorer after making a team-high 5 goals against University of Denver on Friday.
Minutes after Bradley's goal, Oregon attack Lindsay Pittard (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) took an unassisted shot and scored. It was the freshman's first goal of the season. The Wildcats retaliated with five more goals to finish with a 19-goal lead.
Senior Courtney Flynn was Northwestern's leading scorer with four goals, all of which she made in the first half. Junior Laura Glassanos came in second for the Wildcats with three goals, in addition to four assists.
"We went up against a very experienced team and played our hearts out," said Oregon coach Jen Larsen. Of Oregon's 24 players, 22 had an opportunity to play and learn from the ranked Wildcats. "We're looking to make improvements soon," Larsen added.
Both senior Louisa Dorsch (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and freshman Allison O'Brien (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) played 30 minutes as goalkeeper for the Ducks. Dorsch made 8 saves and O'Brien set a personal record with five saves.
The Ducks play next at Pape Field in Eugene, Ore. against UC Davis on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m.
