Men's Tennis Falls to BYU, 6-1
02/05/05 | Men's Tennis
PROVO, Utah ? The University of Oregon men's tennis team fell to 5-2 after a 6-1 loss to BYU Saturday. Oregon's lone victory came from No. 16 Sven Swinnen, who became Oregon's all-time career leader in wins with 70.
The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning two of three doubles matches. Swinnen and Arron Spencer improved to 4-1 in dual play with a win at the No. 2 position.
In singles, Swinnen defeated Cougars' Nima Roshan, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, at the No. 1 spot. The senior from Switzerland now improves to 70-33 lifetime and 6-0 in dual play.
BYU finished off the Ducks quickly however, sweeping the remaining five positions and scoring revenge on last year's 5-2 defeat to the Ducks in Eugene.
The Ducks return home for two dual matches next weekend as they host Boise State, Friday, at 6:30 p.m. and UC Santa Barbara, Sunday, at 11 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center.
