Men?s Golf 10th Before Rains Hit at Ashworth Invitational

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. ? Oregon shot an 11-over 295 and was in 10th place after one round of the Ashworth Invitational. Second round play was halted Monday afternoon due to rain and standing water on the par-71, 6,900-yard North Ranch Country Club course.
Sophomore Derek Sipe led Oregon with a 1-over 72 and was tied for 26th. Senior Gregg LaVoie and freshman Landon Banks were tied for 33rd at 3-over 74, while sophomore Joey Benedetti fired a 4-over 75 that left him tied for 52nd.
Pepperdine led the competition at 1-under 283. Washington was second at 284 and Brigham Young was third at 286. UCLA, USC and Georgia Southern were tied for fourth at 289.
Weather permitting, teams will complete the second round beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the scheduled third and final round.
