
Freshmen Lead Ducks at Suspended Husky Invitational

BREMERTON, Wash. ? Freshmen Jack Dukeminier and Sean Maekawa shot 72s in the second round as Oregon rebounded from a slow first round to climb to second place at the darkness-suspended Husky Invitational played Monday at the 7,061, par-72 Gold Mountain Olympic Course.
Six golfers will complete their second round Tuesday morning prior to the third and final round.
With seniors Derek Sipe and Joey Benedetti still on the course, the Ducks were tied for second with Washington at 16-over par. Oregon State led the tournament at 5-over. The Beavers and Huskies also had two golfers unable to complete their second rounds.
Dukeminier, from Eugene, Ore., was tied for eighth at 2-over 146. He led the Duck charge in the afternoon after a morning round of 12-over 300 left them tied for seventh. Maekawa's 72 left him tied for 33rd at plus-8. Freshman Isaiah Telles was tied for 17th at 5-over after rounds of 76-73. Benedetti was at 4-over with a hole to play and was 1-under for his second round.
Individually, Oregon State's James Allenby led at 6-under with a hole to play. Washington's Zach Bixler, also with a hole to complete Tuesday morning, was second at 2-under.
