Ducks Gain Ground on Day Two in Columbus Regional
05/19/26 | Men's Golf
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Oregon men's golf team shot a 10-over 294 on Tuesday, climbing three spots on the leaderboard. Three of the Ducks' four scoring golfers improved on their first-round performances, while the fourth matched his opening-round score.
On another day of windy conditions that challenged much of the field, just four of the tournament's 75 players finished under par Tuesday. Despite the brutal scoring environment, Aiden Krafft, Ramil Saelim and Casper Nerpin helped Oregon steady itself and climb within striking distance of the top five entering the tournament's final day.
The trio each battled through the conditions to post matching 2-over 73s, balancing their rounds with a 1-over-par score on both the front and back nine while showing consistency throughout the day.
After the Ducks struggled late in Monday's opening round, Oregon responded with a much steadier finish Tuesday. In the stretch that proved most difficult a day earlier, Krafft, Saelim and Nerpin combined for just one bogey over the final five holes. The Ducks settled into a strong rhythm down the stretch, handling the wind and difficult scoring conditions with composure. Krafft and Saelim each carded just one bogey over their final nine holes, while Nerpin and Tim Chang each recorded two bogeys — but only after both found birdies on the par-5 fifth hole.
Their resilience paid off as the Ducks made significant moves up the individual leaderboard and positioned themselves for a strong final round push as a team.
The Ducks posted a 10-over 294 and currently sit 8th in the 13-team field, with one round remaining in the regional.
At the top of the leaderboard, No. 2 national seed Florida Gators has built a commanding 16-stroke lead at 7-under par, while Memphis sits in second at 9-over. Stanford, Arizona State and Long Beach State round out the top five, the cutoff line for advancement to the NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
With just 18 holes remaining, Oregon faces an uphill climb but remains within striking distance. Just six strokes separate the Ducks from fifth place and a return to the national championship for the first time since 2023.
