No. 9 Trojans Too Much for the Ducks, 7-0
03/31/07 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES -- The Ducks showed a bit of their inexperience as they were swept, 7-0, by the No. 9 USC Trojans, in a Pac-10 dual Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Ducks drop to 9-9 on the year, while the Trojans move to 16-1.
Alexander Cornelissen was the only Duck able to gain any momentum in his match as he was only broken twice in 6-4, 6-4 defeat at the hands of Kaes Van't Hof at the No. 2 position.
All of the other Ducks' singles matches were decided in lopsided victories in favor of the Trojans.
Marcos Verdasco was bested at the top position by No. 64 ranked Jamil Al-Agaba 6-1, 6-2 while at the third position, Ric Mortera dropped his match 6-1, 6-1.
The doubles point was decided in the same dominant fashion for the Trojans as the closest the Ducks would get would be at the top position as Verdasco and Francisco Gallardo fell 8-5.
The Ducks are at home for the rest of the season until the Pac-10 Championships. They open the homestand with Stanford on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
