LINCOLN, Calif. ? The No. 44 University of Oregon women's golf team climbed a position Tuesday into second place in the NCAA West Regional Preview final round, held at Lincoln Hills Golf Course.
The Ducks shot a 308 Tuesday after Monday's opening rounds of 300 and 292 for an overall score of 900. No. 10 Denver won the overall title (288-290-298-876), ahead of Oregon (second, 300-292-308-900) and Fresno State (third, 305-293-306-904).
Other top-60 ranked teams in the Sacramento State-hosted event included No. 56 UC Davis (fourth-tie, 300-299-306-905), No. 54 UNLV (fourth-tie, 301-296-308-905), No. 57 UC Irvine (sixth, 299-299-308-906), No. 48 Washington State (seventh, 297-293-318-908), No. 55 Colorado (eighth-tie, 308-296-310-913) and No. 45 San Francisco (12th, 304-309-307-920).
UO's overall tournament score (900) tied its second lowest of the season, behind its record-breaking 869 (292-291-286) three weeks ago in the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational, and tied its 900 scores from last week's Duck Invitational (297-309-294) and last October's Edean Ihlanfeldt (307-290-303). The Ducks also carded similar scores of 901 and 903 early last fall in the Heather Fall Memorial (308-298-295) and Giustina Memorial Classic (299-304-300).
Junior Cathryn Bristow improved two positions to finish second overall with Tuesday's even-par 72 score on the 6,018-yard course (75-70-72-217). The Huapai, New Zealand native's seventh score of par or better this season was also the 10th time she led UO this season. Her top overall finish on the team was the third in eight events this season.
Bristow's lone blemish on the day was a double-bogey on the first hole. She birdied the par-4 ninth and 18th holes, and shot par on the other 15 holes to finish one stroke shy of the win.
Her placing was her second runner-up finish of the year after a similar effort in the University of San Francisco Invitational last November. She won her third collegiate tournament in mid-March's UNLV stop and also claimed top-10 finishes in last week's Duck Invitational (sixth, 75-77-72-224) and last fall's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational (eighth-tie, 77-73-71-221).
The Ducks also counted scores Tuesday from another pair of top-25 overall finishers ? sophomore Felicia Eastick (21st-tie, 73-74-78-225) and freshman Kendra Little (24th-tie, 76-71-79-226) ? and sophomore Kate Hildahl (54th-tie, 76-77-79-232). UO's other player Tuesday was freshman Erica Omlid (69th-tie, 78-77-83-238).
Overall, Amy Eneroth of Washington State entered the day with a four-stroke lead and held on to win by one stroke (71-68-77-216) over Bristow and UC Davis' Alice Kim (second, 71-72-74-217).
